Harvest time is filled with a multitude of potential stressors for farmers. Jake Smoker says his concerns over harvest loss have been reduced since he started using FarmWave’s harvest loss monitoring system.

Smoker… “The system came to me about a week after we had started doing soybeans. I had about 300 acres already through the system or through the machine at this point. We got into that field and started going and the system started showing you got loss out the back. I'm going, I don't, do I trust the technology enough to make changes? I keep tinkering and I finally got it dialed in. The, the fan was set maybe just a little bit too fast. We went from non-irrigated beans to irrigated beans, so the yield was a little higher. I changed one millimeter on the, the sieve and slowed the fan down 50 RPMs. That immediately changed about four bushel back into the tank.”

Smoker says the data provided by FarmWave has been instrumental in helping make tough decisions.

Smoker… “I'm starting to see the data coming back, and the data, to me, has always been the most important thing in the operation. You know, I can't do it by gut feel anymore. Margins are too tight. So I gotta use every piece of data I've got in order to, to make the most that I can off that acre of ground. And seeing that data coming back, even in very rough, raw forms in the beginning, it was interesting that I could make decisions right there.”
