With all the external factors involved in farming, it’s difficult to predict a guaranteed return on investment. However, the founder of Advancing Eco Agriculture John Kempf, says two areas in which he’s witnessed consistent ROI are seed treatments and foliar applications.

Kempf... "The bottom line is there are two areas that are significant wins consistently. The first, the greatest, the single greatest ROI application consistently is a well-designed seed treatment. Seed treatments are inexpensive, they're low cost per acre, and they deliver over and over and over again. When they're well-designed, they're very consistent. If they're not well-designed, then they're highly variable. And the second category comes as a surprise to many people, and that is foliar applications. Well-designed foliar applications also have a consistent ROI. Then side dress, planters, applications, all these other types of stuff, those fall down into different categories depending on your specific local context. But when you look at regeneration or facilitating a transition through an economic lens, You make different decisions than those that are often promoted. Cover crops are important for regenerating soil health, but they may not be the most important thing this year, particularly not if I'm under financial duress."

Again that’s John Kempf, Advancing Eco Agriculture founder.
