We hope you have a Merry and sweet Christmas wherever you are. Today we are hyperfocusing on the sweet part and diving into the batter. Whether you bake in North America or the North Pole, those holiday cookies, cakes, and candies are sure to be extra sweet and delicious, thanks to the high quality of U.S. food ingredients that get exported around the world.

But how much do we export for our cookie, cake, and candy ingredients?

According to the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service, the U.S. exports almost $269 million worth of flour, and North Dakota is the top producing state. America sends out $240 million worth of butter overseas, and California produces the most U.S. butter. The U.S. exports $719 million worth of eggs and egg products, with Iowa the top producing state. If you’re a ginger fan, the U.S. exports $3 million worth of ginger spice, and Hawaii produces the most ginger spice in the U.S.

Alright, that’s fine and dandy, but where does the southeast come into play? Well, America exports $196 million worth of sugar, and Florida produces the most sugar in the U.S.
