As weeds continue to adapt, farmers need access to all the tools they can get to try to keep crops healthy and competitive. AMVAC Chemical Company has announced a new herbicide coming out for canola growers that Portfolio Manager Mark Foster says give weed control help for both broadleaf and some grass weed species.

Foster… “We are launching - in the process of launching - a new herbicide that will fit canola growers. And it's the same product that would also be available to soybean and cotton growers. So it has tremendous utility. The product name pending registration and EPA right now is Zalo. So Zalo is a combination of two modes of action that give broad, uh, weed control, inclusive of broad leaves, as well as two modes of action for grasses. So this will offer farmers a lot of simplicity as well as efficiency when they go to the field to, to target weeds in glufosinate tolerant canola.”

Foster says they hope to offer Zalo, spelled Z-A-L-O to the market in the near future pending approval.

Foster… “Well, we're certainly looking forward to getting Zalo to market pending EPA approval and, offering canola growers a new choice in glyphosinate tolerant canola.”
