With your Southeast Regional Ag News, I am Haylie Shipp. This is the Ag Information Network.

The Annual Convention of the U.S. Cattlemen’s Association is now underway in Fort Worth. Not in Texas? You can still take part in some of the discussions!

I had a chance yesterday to speak with the group’s Executive Vice President, Lia Biondo.

We are offering some opportunities for livestreaming. We have two sessions that’ll be livestreamed this weekend. You can check us out on our Facebook page, United States Cattlemen’s Association, or the Society for Range Management’s page.”

One of those discussions, the pros and cons of the carbon market…

“It’s a relatively new concept and producers really have to be aware of what they’re getting into.”

The other digital session available, price-taking vs. price-making…

“That’s a very common phrase out there in cattle country, but it’s true. You have to look at your risk management plans, really, and so we have Brett Crosby of Custom Ag Solutions who’ll be giving this workshop on how best to manage your risk as a cattle producer. I really encourage folks to tune into both those presentations. Again you can find them on our Facebook page or our YouTube Channel.”

Again, Lia Biondo, Executive Vice President of the U.S. Cattlemen’s Association,
