From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson. If you weren’t aware, membership to the Washington Farm Bureau is not JUST for farmers and ranchers.

Farm Bureau’s Marketing Director, Bailey Moon says there are three types of membership …

MOON … “Our $20 a year membership, which is officially known as our Associate Membership, but we’re kind of tagging that membership now with our Friend of the Farmer Membership. And then we’ve got our Business Membership that is for any business in Washington state that just wants to say, hey, I support agriculture. You don’t have to be an agricultural business.”

And the third type, Moon says is the Voting Membership, however …

MOON … “The Friend of the Farmer Membership is probably one we’re most excited to really encourage folks to become part of. And we want to really encourage consumers that they can engage with Farm Bureau, and they can make an impact on local agriculture. And for just $20 a year there’s a lot of great things they can do for Washington agriculture.”

Moon says farmers and ranchers can’t do it alone, without consumer support …

MOON … “With almost 8-million people in Washington state, our hope is that we can get you know even a percentage of those to say, yes, I want to be a friend of farmers and I’ll support Washington Farm Bureau. Tell me more about how I can engage.”

Tune in tomorrow for more on this newer focus of Washington Farm Bureau membership … to include you, Friends of Farmers.
