Colorado River's Lower Basin Water and Corn Exports Soar
**A plan agreed to last spring by states in the Colorado River’s Lower Basin should keep sufficient water in the river’s key reservoirs for the next three years.
Despite the Bureau of Reclamation reporting an improved water outlook after 2023 rains, implementing the plan will require farmers to voluntarily use much less water over that time.
Most of the water savings will come from farmers in California’s Imperial Valley.
**USDA says corn sales to overseas buyers surged in the week ending October 19.
Corn export sales were up 53% over the previous week and 22% from the four-week average.
An agency report says Mexico was the biggest buyer of U.S. corn followed by Colombia and Japan.
Exports overall during the week were down 6% week-to-week, the lowest since the marketing year began September 1.
**The nation's average gas price fell 5.3 cents last week to $3.45 per gallon.
That’s down 36.3 cents from a month ago and 27.4 cents from a year ago.
The national average DIESEL price fell 3.4 cents last week to $4.43 per gallon, 86 cents lower than a year ago.
GasBuddy's Patrick De Haan says the West Coast has seen some of the largest declines, with California down 80-cents in the past month.
