“Making pasta with hard red winter now most of us think about you know, semolina from durum wheat and when we think about pasta, and we grow Durham in the United States, of course, but most of that used here, but also exported to Italy and Europe and places that are willing to pay for really high quality pasta.”
Most recently, US wheat associates partnered with a northern crops Institute at North Dakota State University to provide value added education to global buyers via a pasta making course.
“We brought in customers from Sub Saharan Africa, from North Africa from South America and the Caribbean to demonstrate how to use hard red winter, hard red spring and blends to produce pasta and it's it's something that you know, we love to promote Durham as well but not everybody can afford to pay for Europe so it's a really good opportunity to demonstrate how we can use us weeps different us sweets to produce pasta, which is very common food in a lot of countries.”
