Harvest season is underway and in various stages across the Northwest, and many growers are starting to think about fall fertilizer applications. Matt Renier is a crop consultant and advisor and the branch manager at Helena Agri-Enterprises in McArthur, California. He says the time is now to review the performance of this year’s nutritional program.

Reynier… “Fall fertilizer applications give growers a chance to reset and look to planning next year’s crop. It’s important to evaluate projected yield goals versus actual yields and understand how crop input decisions affected those results. At Helena, it is our goal to integrate sound agronomic decisions with efficient fertilizer offerings.”

Reynier added that there are a number of interactions that can hinder nutrient efficiency and limit plant uptake, but Helena has a few recommendations to solve for this.

Reynier… “Including Resurge in dry blends will improve the chemical, physical, and biological aspects of the soil. This product supports nutrient availability by preventing nitrogen volatilization and leaching, keeping potassium from binding to soil particles, and protecting phosphorus from forming insoluble compounds with positively charged soil nutrients. By keeping nutrients available for crop uptake, plants can access what they need to achieve higher yields. Resurge is a high-quality, low-dust granule made to blend across all dry fertilizer application scenarios. The engineered granule provides for even blending and uniform distribution across the acre.”

Growers can visit helenaagri.com for more information about Resurge and to find a local Helena retailer.
