From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson with today’s Fruit Grower Report. We introduced you yesterday to L’Ecole No. 41 winery’s new Chief Operating Officer.

Well, Ryan Pennington mentioned they were about to get started on their 2023 vintage grape harvest season … which also happens to be a milestone anniversary …

PENNINGTON … “Indeed, we’re just thrilled to be celebrating our 40th anniversary this year. L’Ecole was founded in 1983 by Jean and Baker Ferguson as just the third winery in the Walla Walla valley and one of just a dozen or so in the state at that time.”

Pennington says the Ferguson’s have since passed L’Ecole on to their daughter and her husband …

PENNINGTON … “They’ve been running the winery ever since and now Marty and Megan’s children Riley and Rebecca are involved in the business as well. So, they’re on the third generation of family ownership and looking forward to many more generations here in the Walla Walla valley.”

So in September, Pennington says there will be plenty to celebrate …

PENNINGTON … “It’s been an incredible ride and we’re happy to be celebrating next month with our customers our 40th anniversary harvest celebration here at the winery in Walla Walla and looking forward to another successful harvest.”

L’Ecole is housed in the historic Frenchtown schoolhouse depicted on its label.
