A northern Idaho farm to table day. Myname is Linda Ryder. We began farm to table seven years ago. My name is Mikaela Wagner. I am the agricultural programming manager for the North Idaho State Fair. I do all the livestock and exhibits at the fair and then livestock things all year round. And then Farm to table is our big ag event. Outside of the fair. We try to do different tracks, so we'll try to make sure that everybody gets some sort of beef cattle, the dairy cow, something in there. We do sheep and goats as well, so we make sure that there's plenty of livestock and we do have the live animals here, so it's great. Kids love to be able to sit and touch them and pet them and feel everything. It's a great experience. And then we also have any type of crops. We have apples, vegetables. We do all the different pieces that go into our lunch. We have our wheat station where they actually get to grind the wheat into flour. We see those pieces come together during the lunch when we have our bun, the tomato, the lettuce, the beef. And so it kind of brings everything together. And it's great to see the kids and even the teachers and chaperones sometimes be like, wow, I never knew. Speaker2: That I would describe this event as wonderful field trip that we provide for fifth graders from Kootenai County School districts that include Post Falls, Lakeland and Coeur d'Alene School District. We give them a full day of different learning opportunities, plus a hamburger lunch that's monetarily provided by the Idaho Beef Council. Speaker3: One big thing is really how much agriculture impacts their. Speaker1: Life learning and having fun. A perfect blend.
