NewLeaf Symbiotics’ Terrasym technology is designed to promote plant growth through naturally accruing microbes. NewLeaf has now partnered with AMVAC GreenSolutions to offer BioWake a dry application seed lubricant that uses Terrasym. AMVAC GreenSolutions Marketing Manager Ted Walter says it avoids a lot of the problems that come with the commonly used talc and graphite seed lubricants.

Walter… “There's a lot of negatives with using a product like that. First off, it's really dirty. It's abrasive to the seed, it's abrasive to the soil. And with BioWake it's a soy based seed lubricant, that is a carrier with Terrasym. And so it dissolves in the soil around 28 days so it doesn't stay in the soil like a talc or a graphite would. And it's a delivery mechanism essentially for the Terrasym technology.”

The Terrasym technology uses pink pigmented facultative methylotrophs, which NewLeaf chief product officer Aaron Kelly says are naturally occurring microbes proven to promote plant growth.

Kelly… “They certainly are very good at helping plants get a great start out of the ground. They tend to emerge more rapidly, have bigger root masses, take up nutrients more effectively. So it really helps a lot with those abiotic stresses. And I think another thing that's kind of unique about them is that they use methanol, and I think that helps them to be more robust as a biological product maybe than some of the others that are out on the market.”
