Imagine it's a warm, quite morning, a clear blue sky above the lush green landscape near Wilder where potatoes and grain are growing. SUPERMAN THEME "Look up in the sky, it's a bird, it's a plane, no its Superman. Unfortunately not. What they'll be gazing at is a remote control drone that will be operating in August over the World Potato Congress Farm Show. The unit is a scouting drone used by Simplot Grower Solutions. Equipped with still and video cameras it enables professions at Simplot to make recommendations to their customers. The drone is expected to be operating over the farm show site August 24th through the 26th. Video images will be streamed onto the internet to provide the world with a daily look at the activities taking place. The farm show follows the 6th World Potato Congress in Boise, an event that Idaho Potato Commission CEO Frank Muir eagerly awaits. MUIR "There are already representatives from 35 countries that are registered to come here to the Boise area to participate in the show. We open our arms broadly to the world. We're excited to showcase Idaho. And they will begin to do that August 20th when international visitors start to arrive. Voice of Idaho Agriculture Bill Scott
