The U.S. Senate has confirmed Doug McKalip to serve as Chief Agricultural Negotiator for the office of the U.S. Trade Representative. Many ag organizations are coming out in response, among them, the US Meat Export Federation, here's President And CEO Dan Halstrom.

"We're extremely glad to hear the news of the confirmation of Doug McCallum is the chief act negotiator with USTR. It's been a long time coming. There's a lot of issues around the world that we need a seat at the table at and to have Doug McKalip comes with a wealth of knowledge and background and we're looking forward to working with him very closely. We have the Indo-Pacific economic framework that's top of mind as we exit to 2022 and enter 2023. We also have, you know, outstanding discussions going on with Kenya and Taiwan. Once again, to have a person with AG, specific ag focus at the table in a person like Doug McKalip is invaluable."

And President of the American Farm Bureau Federation Zippy Duvall says that AFBF is pleased that after several months of delay, McKalip was finally confirmed as Chief Agricultural Negotiator for USTR. Doug has proven he is more than qualified for the position with more than three decades of agricultural experience.
