From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson with today’s Fruit Grower Report. August is time for Washington wine lovers to celebrate and this year’s Washington Wine Month is called, WAugust!

Washington Wine Commission Vice President, Chris Stone says WAugust is filled with very special wine events all over the state …

STONE … “Now I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the very significant event right in the middle of “WAugust” which is the long-standing Auction of Washington Wine, one of the largest charitable wine events in the country. And there’s a number of different events throughout that weekend beginning Thursday the 11th and running through Saturday the 13th.”

And WAugust, Stone says is a great time for celebrating …

STONE … “The whole goal is to make this truly a 31-day festival with just events happening all month long in every corner of the state. With small events, you know, at a winery or maybe it’s a regional, say with the Walla Wala Wine Alliance or, you know, Lake Chelan. But the goal is to get everybody activated and doing things that can really just appeal to, you know, a wide swath of customers.”

And the special app for staying connected to all of these WAugust wine events? …

STONE … “Map My WA Wine … (Bob) or at your Washington Wine website? … www.washingtonwine.org you got it. If you can’t find the app in other sources, our website should have links right to the download.”

Stone says with over 1,000 wineries, we are finally making our way onto the national and international wine stage and the world is taking note of Washington wines.
