WAugust Pt 1

From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson with today’s Fruit Grower Report. August is Washington Wine Month, one of two wine months actually, a month to celebrate with wine events across the state.

Washington Wine Commission Vice President, Chris Stone says August has long been a month for celebrating our wine industry …

STONE … “This year we did put a bit of a different spin on it, both to give it a different identity and different vibe than the other wine month which is March, which is known as “Taste Washington Wine Month.” But this year, it’s August, it’s Washington. Everybody loves the summertime vibe of the Pacific Northwest, particularly in Washington, so we combined them both and it’s … WAugust.”

And, Stone says to connect with this month’s wine events …

STONE … “You can find these, by the way, we have a pretty fabulous new mobile app called “Map My WA Wine.” On that app you can find wineries near you, find events near you, and you can filter it by any number of different things that interest you. That’s a great way to find one of the events or just tasting rooms that fit your interests.”

And after the past couple of years, Stone says people are ready …

STONE … “There’s definitely a lot of pent-up demand. We have been kind of restricted for so long and people are just really eager to get out there and do things and have experiences and obviously the wineries offer all kinds of experiences that people love.”

Tune in tomorrow for more on WAugust, and Washington Wine Month.
