Talked beef export markets with Norm Voyles, chair of the Cattlemen's Beef Board, What new export markets are opening up to U.S.? I know the Middle East is a big buyer. Certainly they are. Exports. For the last two years we just had record exports, actually had three export markets this last year that topped $1,000,000,000 each. First time ever for that to happen. Exports add more than $400 per finished animal to the value of those animals. New markets, emerging markets, we're seeing those in South Africa. Certainly we're seeing China has just become within about the last three years, just really boomed. Their middle class is booming. They're very willing to purchase US grain fed beef. And then we've always got our go to markets of Japan, Korea, Mexico, sending lots and lots of not only those cats that we like here in the U.S., but there are some variety meats out there that they're using that we typically don't. It's going to Japan. There’s beef lips actually going to Mexico and other internal organs that we typically don't use much in the US. And certainly we're adding a lot of value to those cuts, being able to get overseas and the US meat export has done a wonderful job positioning themselves in order to support and enhance the overall beef value by taking those variety meats to some of those other countries. Doesn't that make a lot of sense? It seems like it's the right thing to do to use every part of the animal that you may. You bet I understand from Mexico, they use beef lips for beef tacos. Speaker1: Amazing what ingenuity does.
