Beef men Fred Scheffelmaier and Brad Heus gathered in Northern Idaho for an educational evening to help fellow ranchers.

I've been a farm bureau member for probably twenty five or thirty years. I'm on the board of directors for Kootenai/Shoshone and Farm Bureau is one of them things I've always looked at it as an opportunity to educate people on what we do as far as agriculture. I'm Brad Beus representing Beus Feedlot, Pasco, Washington, where we have a custom feed yard and we background and develop cattle there in Pasco. What makes our program unique, is that we are diverse. We do number of different things with the feed yard as far as growing and developing our cattle. Fred invited me here tonight to talk about how that could be useful to local ranchers and their programs and what they're doing and maybe branching out, doing something a little different. Hopefully try to help them with their bottom line. With covid, we've seen new opportunities arise as far as local home grown markets. And being that our feed lot is a little unique, we can grow and develop those cattle to a finished product that these ranchers will be able to, in turn, turn and sell to their own customers.
