Tires are a valuable part of any farm machinery. Nobody knows this better than Eric MacPherson, the CEO of Dawson Tire and Wheel. Over the years in his interactions with equipment dealers and farmers, he observed the process of used tire valuation was far from scientific.

MacPherson… “These guys are out springing in equipment all day long, every day. They can look at the serial numbers, they can check the engines, they can do all that, and they walk by the tires. They stick their finger in. So they kept asking us to help us train our guys to be more accurate because on a big four wheel drive John Deere tractor, we have eight 7-10-42s on it you can miss value that $25,000 - $30,000.”

So people started asking MacPherson to train them on how to accurately measure tire tread. But even if the measurement is accurate, that’s only one piece of the puzzle of determining how much tread is left.

MacPherson… “How do we provide accurate used tire information easily to ag producers of ag equipment dealers, and just make their job easier? Because ag tire data is built for ag tire engineers. You got to have a college degree to read the stupid things. And furthermore, it's incredibly hard to find a Mitas is way different than Michelins is way different than Trelleborgs is way different than Firestones.”

MacPherson created an app called TreadSure to accurately and easily calculate how much tread is left on any ag tire. Download the app on your device or go to TreadSure.app to learn more.
