“We're really excited that we are conducting our first-ever industry conference. It will be virtual two half-days, and it will connect growers, handlers, industry partners in a virtual setting,” Williams said. “We'll be sharing the latest information around our marketing initiatives, industry research insights, and more. We'll be featuring top speakers from companies that really impact the industry.”
Williams said the Conference will highlight some of the big things the Walnut Board and Commission are doing for the industry to increase walnut consumption. For instance, this month is American Heart Month.
“We have a lot of really great marketing efforts going on right now. February is American Heart Month and we have a great partnership going with our retail promotions promoting American Heart Month at retail locations around the US, and we have advertising that supports that,” Williams said. “We found that doing promotions at retail around American Heart Month really does have an impact, especially in walnuts sales. Retailers who participate see anywhere from 20 to 500% increase in walnut sales by participating in American Heart Month.”
