Wildfires Hurt CA Agriculture
Wildfires Hurt CA AgricultureThe Wildfires in California this summer have been historic in terms of size - and damage caused. And naturally, some of the damage has effected agriculture.
The USDA's Brad Rippey explains, hundreds of fires have caused problems this year, but the two largest wildfires have alone burned hundreds of thousands of acres.
Smoke from those wildfires has also been a huge concern. Poor air quality has been a problem in California - but that smoke has also caused air quality warnings streching all the way into Idaho over the past few weeks.
The LNU Lightning Complex Fires have burned more than 341,000 acres in Sonoma, Napa and Lake counties, impacting agriculture communities known for diverse family farms, destroyed 845 structures, and killed 4 people. The fire is the second-largest blaze in state history.
