With today’s Fruit Grower Report, I’m Bob Larson. With large in-person gatherings pretty much off limits thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, most organizations are turning to virtual trade shows and meetings.

That fate has now become a reality for the Northwest Hort Expo, the annual trade show of the tree fruit and horticultural industry …

SNYDER … “After much consideration, the Washington State Tree Fruit Association, in combination with the North-Central Washington Fieldman’s Association and the Yakima POM Club, we’ve all decided to move the 116th Annual meeting and the Northwest Hort Expo to a virtual platform.”

That’s this year’s Hort Expo Chair Gary Snyder who says our current situation dictates the move …

SNYDER … “Basically given the current COVID-19 trends, it does not seem likely that large group gatherings will be possible any time in the near future, so we’re going to go virtual with this show and we remain committed to delivering a world-class conference and trade show for the attendees.”

Snyder says it won’t be just a Zoom meeting …

SNYDER … “We’re actually looking at some virtual platforms so it’s a little bit more intense than just a Zoom or a Go To Meetings. We’re going to be trying to tie in the actual meetings and the trade show all in one on one of these virtual platforms.”

So, if you’re interested in this year’s Hort Expo …

SNYDER … “Save the dates for the week of December 7th, 2020 for the 116th Annual meeting.”

Tune in tomorrow for more … on this year’s “virtual” Hort Expo.
