Sunbelt Ag Expo Canceled
Many look forward to attending the Sunbelt Ag Expo every year in Moultrie, Georgia. This year, however, the show has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Executive Director Chip Blalock says this is the first time in 43 years that they’ve had to make this difficult decision.
Blalock… “We survived being five weeks after 9/11 and 2001. We survive torrential rainfall in 2011, 2014. We were a week after Hurricane Michael nearly missed us and 2018. And none of that compares to trying to have a show amid the coronavirus pandemic.”
Blalock says both exhibitors and volunteer organizations had already started cancelling plans to attend.
Blalock… “And a month ago we were feeling pretty good about being able to pull the show off and as it started spiking in so many hotspots, not only in the South, but across the country. And our exhibitors come from really all over the world, predominantly the USA. They were trying to decide if they were going to have a limited display, a skeleton display, or quite frankly, no display. And if we were going forward with the show, most of our exhibitors needed 8-10 weeks lead time to order in equipment for the show.”
North America’s Premier Farm Show will be back October 19th - 21st, 2021.
