Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and as many of you know, my new favorite wine is very often the wine that is in my glass at the time. I simply don't waste the time and calories on wine that I don't enjoy. A couple of years ago I was in Walla Walla Washington to do some wine tasting and I managed to find among them my new favorite wine. On today's program I want to revisit the wine that I discovered there from a great little winery named Tamarack Cellars.
Tamarack Cellars is a modest winery by some standards but the wines were anything but. Owners Ron and Jamie Coleman founded the winery in 1998 devoting themselves to producing small quantities of handcrafted wines. Although I enjoyed all of their wines, the one that caught my fancy was the 2000 DuBrul Vineyard Reserve. It's a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc all grown by Hugh and Kathy Shiels at their Yakima Valley Vineyard. The blend was seamless. The fruit just came jumping out of the glass and the acid was perfectly balanced. The tannins were and still are quite reasonable and the wine, although drinking quite well then, was and will be worth keeping around. You see, I opened a bottle this past week for a special dinner and the Tamarack Cellars 2000 Dubrul Vineyard Reserve is once again my new favorite wine! I recommend thatyou purchase and don't hesitate to lay down wines from Tamarack Cellars.
