To comply with the Food Safety Modernization Act inspectors could be visiting the large farms this year, said Abhi Kulkarni the assistant technical director for the California Walnut board and Commission. “The earliest inspection could begin in spring of 2020. As you mentioned when they show up, these are the things that they will be asking for: The training certificate, your water testing, your employee training records and surveillance.”

And he also mentioned the importance of glyphosate is to all agriculture. “Because we have always been arguing against a blanket ban on glyphosate cause we talked about returning to science based facts and thankfully EPA listened to the industries and they backed us, and they said that glyphosate is okay to use and they're no not requiring prop 65 labels on any glyphosate products,” Kulkarni said.

“This is fantastic news because until California was requiring that label on any commodity glyphosate going forward that will not be in requirement. And it also keeps the important tool in growers toolkit so they can continue using it for weed control.”

Speaking of walnuts, we all know that a healthy lifestyle can contribute to longevity. One way is to snack on a handful of walnuts a few times a week. It may be connected to help the aging. Great recipes are at walnuts.org ---everything from soups and salads to entrees and desserts.
