Demand for Bison is Growing

There has been a number of discussions about fake meat recently, as those products continue to find themselves into stores across America.

There is another product that is also growing in popularity. The demand for Bison meat is also growing.

Jim Matheson with the National Bison Association says there are many reasons people are looking to buy more Bison as an alternative to beef.

“It is growing. Yeah. As we mature as a business and as we educate consumers about bison meat, we're getting more and more folks coming in who really like bison me. It's a very clean natural meat protein that is very naturally raised without many inputs at all. It's been a real big hit in the natural food sector, particularly so for years and years we've been scrambling to keep up with that demand. And as such, we've been growing, as you say, and we're about at that point where we're starting to balance that supply and demand. But 2019, we do have USDA AG Marketing Service tracking our slaughter numbers every month. And according to USDA, we have about processed the most animals we ever have under federal inspection."
