Hundreds of Colorado educators taking part in the Colorado Science Conference this week have the opportunity to focus on agriculture in the classroom.

The Colorado Foundation for Agriculture’s Executive Director Jennifer Scharpe says this is a great way for her to reach teachers and let them know about the work they’re doing.

One such program is an online gaming platform Journey 2050 teachers can use to help kids students learn about farming and sustainability.

Scharpe: “The overarching question is how are we going to feed the world population by the time it reaches roughly 10 billion people in the year 2050. There are 7 levels. They all come with lesson plans. The whole goal is to fill their sustainability bucket.”

Sharpe says teachers will have a hands-on opportunity to explore the Journey 2050 educational gaming platform at the conference and check out curriculum available for their classes.

The goal of the Colorado Science Conference is to provide professional development opportunities that strengthen science content, provide access to educational resources, and help build strong, professional networks that support science teachers.
