Milk Prices

Milk production in the U.S. is down, and that's driving up milk prices at last. That's good news at Hagler Creek Dairy outside of Raft River co-owner Mike Garner.

“Finally, nice to see that we're breaking up. It gives us hope that we can continue on because feed prices are going up, too.”

With milk prices lingering two to three dollars below the break even point, finally this summer, futures have started to show a good upswing. So last year we were getting maybe $14.50 - 15 dollars. This year, Class 3 has come up to right now sitting about $17.40. That's Darren Taber of Donnelly Farms of Shoshone.

Now, we don't get paid Class 3, but our Glanbia pay price is sitting around $16.60 right now. So that is better, but still under the cost of production.
