Am I going to get cancer, are my kids safe, do I dare eat nonorganic foods? Where can I buy food that is safe for me and my family? There has been so much controversy over unwanted chemicals making their way into our food supply that all kinds of environmentalists weigh in on. Not so fast says Dr. Eliza Dunn, Medical Sciences & Outreach Lead for Bayer Crop Science as she comments on the environmental groups ' Dirty Dozen list that they release each spring. "it is very unfortunate because it winds up making people very worried about their food supply. You can be absolutely reassured that the food supply in this country is safe, healthy and nutritious and we are so lucky to be able to have access to such a healthy food supply. There are a lot of other places in the world that don't have access to that and it is because we have things like crop protection products that make sure that we have that kind of access to a safe food supply." The environmental working groups say strawberries, for example are at the top of the dirty dozen list. "That's misinformation, unfortunately, we know that they are not toxic. Fruits and vegetables are healthy and if you are worried about residues, you can wash them off. It is, unfortunately, really fear mongering and it is too bad."
