Robotics and Dairy Farms
Robotic milking machines have experienced tremendous growth over the past two decades; providing labor solutions and increased animal performance.
Larry Tranel (TRAH-nell), is a Dairy Specialist who says, interest in robotic milking systems is growing among the nation's dairy farmers, as the technology becomes more sophisticated and readily available.
Tranel says that once robotic milkers are installed on a dairy, they generate valuable data that producers can use to make more informed management decisions.
Perhaps the greatest benefit of robotics, Tranel says, is monitoring animal health and reproductive signals within the cow herd.
Issues with the number of visas available for Immigrant labor has made robotics a more interesting potion for dairy opperators.
