Talking with good friend Brett Bartlett with regard to his view on hunting in general and hunting for elk specifically. "I hunt these days, live for September, it's all archery, I don't hunt any other way. I've become a lot more fanatic about it than I used to be. I exclusively hunt for elk. A lot of people who hunt elk are looking for the biggest, baddest bull that they can find and that's not what I am after. I love elk meat so it's mostly about getting good, lean meat and trying to keep it in the freezer so I have enough to last all year and hopefully can replenish for the next year. I have shot deer but it's only when they get in the way. But elk meat is healthy because it's low in cholesterol, no injections etc. By the way, I was thinking about a couple of years back when I actually ran into a huge elk and that's what makes the greatest stories is not?
