Floating Farms

Leave it to the Dutch. From the annals of who would have thunk it, I heard a story on the radio yesterday that you wouldn't believe. It led off with a discussion about global warming, or climate change if you prefer, and the fact that melting ice caps were raising the level of the oceans. It went on to note that with rising sea levels, many cities in the world that were up against the ocean might be endangered. The Dutch, who are familiar with this concept, you'll remember the little boy putting his finger in the dike, have come up with an unusual plan. In view of diminishing land mass, they decided that building a floating farm might be a reasonable solution. A company called Floating Farm has this to say: " Floating Farm is a stable  production farm where we produce daily fresh dairy products, but also a high-tech living lab where we research with several technology partners, a better food production process, waste  and water treatment. We are actively research the production of Fodder for the cows and research the treatment of urine (nutrients) and manure to other products or energy-production." The reporter asked if the cows, that were standing on a soft floating floor were as comfortable as they would be in a field and the scientist responded, they are more comfortable.
