This is your Northwest report for Tuesday, November 22 I'm David Sparks and agri-pulse.com's Spencer Chase learned that US agriculture has found a new set of people to be their new faces of farming and ranching. There are five different representatives from a widely diverse agricultural spectrum but the one thing that they have in common is that they are very good communicators. A huge component of all was, not surprisingly, is social media which has an overwhelmingly massive potential for reaching out. Some of the five folks are bloggers. One of the people who has been selected is Lauren Arborgast who grew up in the city but married into an agricultural family that specializes in beef, chicken and a variety of crops. If you'd like to hear her blog, go to paintthetownag.com and her intention is to spread the word on agriculture. "I have so enjoyed the interactions, whether it be via email or in person, just talking with consumers about what I do and why I do it and that really generates from the farm. It's about stories from the farm and what I am doing as a mom on the farm. This next year will be an opportunity to reach a wider audience. It's for the sake of agriculture. It doesn't matter how you farm or what you farm but really just presenting a united front for agriculture."

Elsewhere, Joel Leftwich, Republican staff director for the Senate Agriculture Committee, will lead President-elect Donald Trump's transition team at the Agriculture Department.
