New DuPont Herbicides Tackle Tough Broadleaf Weeds in Cereal Crops

Cereal growers will have two new broadleaf herbicide options for the 2017 growing season. DuPont Crop Protection's U.S. Product Development manager for cereal herbicides Ken Carlson says that both herbicides contain two modes of action for effective broadleaf control.

Carlson: "The two new herbicides are Sentrallas® herbicide and Travallas™ herbicide. These are new liquid broadleaf herbicides from DuPont Crop Protection and that fit very well for use in cereals in the Pacific Northwest. They are registered on winter wheat, spring wheat, and barley. They fit very well in the winter wheat and spring wheat markets of the eastern plains of Colorado. They fit very well."

Carlson says that a benefit of these herbicides is that they make an excellent base herbicide component for weed control in these crops.

Carlson: "Probably the bottom line is both of these products work very well into a herbicide resistance package. They start as a good base product and then every field for a grower is different. To be able to tank mix other herbicides that add and improve the spectrum of the product to give you that total weed control you need in that field. These products allow that."

Carlson adds that Sentrallas® offers flexible recropping options while Travallass™ provides powerful protection on non-rotating acres.
