Bayer Crop Science European Event Provided Perspective

Several months ago, a handful of U.S. ag bloggers had the opportunity to attend an Bayer Crop Science agricultural event in Dusseldorf, Germany. AgChat Foundation Executive Director and ag blogger Jenny Schweigert shares more on what she learned
Schweigert: “They talked about many food issues, farm issues and how we can be forward thinking and looking at things differently to achieve sustainability, to achieve better connections with consumers, to achieve better farm and agriculture all around. The interesting part for me, was in Europe we do not see quite as many folks who are advocating for agriculture especially on social media. So a lot of the bloggers we were meeting when we were over there were food critics and people from that part of the food industry. So it was a really cool experience to learn from them. It was also a cool experience to see what Germany and Europe — what and how they eat.”
She mentioned that bicycles were very popular in Germany and that in comparison to the U.S. the people seemed more active.
Schweigert: “Biking is their major mode of transportation. We actually saw parking lots for bikes. Not only above ground, but we saw below ground parking lots for bikes.”
