Introducing Potatoes USA's New Global Marketing Manager

Potatoes USA has a new Global Marketing Manager — Ross Johnson who recently began in his new position. Johnson shares more about his previous experience in Consumer Packaged Goods.

Johnson: "My background is in the CPG industry so more focused on the packaged goods in the center store. I worked for Kraft Foods on the West coast and then took my career to ConAgra Foods over on the East coast and have been working on the packaged goods side of the business and watching the center store shrink. So am excited to be a category that is growing."

One changing trend that Johnson shares is that consumers are wanting potatoes in smaller bags — so shifting to 5 pound bags and smaller from the more traditional 10 pound bags. He continues

Johnson: "The biggest thing we are doing right now with the rebranding US Potato Board becoming Potatoes USA; there is going to be a lot of changes coming to the way we approach the market and the way we partner with retailers and more specifically the growers and shippers. Personally I've very excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. We currently have a brand new website that is under development that should be launched here shortly within the next couple of months. That is really going to be the jumping off point for us as we approach the back half of this year."
