Wine Heating Up

Wine Heating Up. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.

It won't be long now before the spring wines will be released and you can enjoy some wonderful new wines. Duane Wollmuth with the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance talks about their upcoming Spring Release Weekend.

WOLLMUTH: The first full weekend in May, the first Friday Saturday and Sunday is Spring Release and that's when most all the wineries are open and they're pouring their newest wine that they've just released.

That will take place May, 6, 7 and 8 around the valley. In addition Wollmuth says they are gearing up for a big event in June called the World of Cabernet Sauvignon.

WOLLMUTH: It's a three day festival from June 16th through the 18th. It starts with a vintage pour on Thursday, late Thursday afternoon the 16th with about 30 wineries participating, pouring older wines from the 2009 vintage and earlier. And then on Friday the 17th is really the big day. We've got a welcome kick-off in the morning with two guest keynote speakers.

There will be a wine panel in the afternoon and dinner that evening as well as a dinner on Saturday. Wollmuth says the event is open to the public. You can pickup tickets for this special event through the Wine Alliance website at celebratewallawalla.com
