Tax Time & Agriculture Art

Tax Time & Agriculture Art. I'm Greg Martin with today's Northwest Report.

Agriculture is getting some artistic attention at the Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick. An art exhibit called "Harvest: The Bounty of Washington" features 44 photographers from 28 counties. Heather Breymeyer is the Director of Sales at the Convention Center.

BREMEYER: The Harvest photography exhibit showcases Washington State products and farm-to-table heritage. it's the final stop of the state tour and it'll be here now through June. The pictures are for sale.

I really hate to bring this up but you have one week to finish your taxes. This year the filing deadline falls on Monday, April 18th. Why? April 15th falls on a Friday this year which also happens to be a little known federal holiday called Emancipation Day. It's a legal holiday in Washington DC so the tax deadline needed to wait until Monday. I guess that's a good thing as it gives you a few extra days to prepare. If you happen to get a refund this year some financial advisors have some advice. They recommend adding it to an emergency fund or perhaps adding to or opening an Individual Retirement Account. Paying down debt is also a good idea.

That's today's Northwest Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network of the West.
