After the ravaging our range lands in Idaho took due to last year's fires, I wanted to get an update on where we are from head of the Idaho Cattle Association Wyatt Prescott. "I have been very happy with BLM’s willingness in working with the other agencies including NRCS, Department of Lands, OSC, different state agencies to sit down and get a rehabilitation plan together that makes sense in going forward. I have heard a lot of reports that they have done some good stuff in some of the rehab efforts including some common sense type of things like not planting native and low elevations where there is no way they can out compete some of the invasives. instead they're looking at more punch presses and crested wheat that would do a little bit better in that environment. The challenge always is what is the appropriate timeline on resting and we have some pretty big disagreements on that. We believe they need to get right back out there right now and eliminate those invasive species that are coming in but there are some regulation problems with doing that.”
