Oregon Wine Symposium

Oregon Wine Symposium. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.

Next Tuesday and Wednesday, the Oregon Wine Board is presenting the Oregon Wine Symposium. Michelle Kaufmann, Communications Manager with the Board talks about the event.

KAUFMANN: The Oregon Wine Symposium is the largest wine industry educational event in the Pacific Northwest. We have a series of tracts covering wine business, viticulture and enology trends that range from more entry level to more advanced so really there's content for everyone in the wine business whether you're a tasting room manager, a winery owner, a vineyard manager, a vineyard hand, a cellar hand, we really want to make sure everyone in our industry is getting something.

Kaufmann says they also have one of the largest trade shows in the Pacific Northwest with more than 200 exhibitors. There are also a number of panel discussions and presentations covering the most relevant topics.

KAUFMANN: Some of the highlight ones; Dr. Greg Jones from Southern Oregon University is one of the world's leading wine climatologists, he's going to be giving sort of the state recap for what 2015 was like and what he's forecasting in 2016. We'll have Christian Miller and Mark Freund. They're going to be presenting the state of the wine industry looking at a global scale but then how Oregon factors into that

She says it's best to preregister for the event but tickets can be purchased at the door.

That's today's Fruit Grower Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network of the West.
