Media Intern Shares NWSS Experience

Throughout January’s National Western Stock Show, there are four media interns who worked hard providing photos, news releases and all sorts of social media posting of the results of the many different livestock species shows. University of Minnesota junior Becky Church was one of the four interns and she shares what her role entailed.
Church: “I was fortunate enough to be selected as a 2016 National Western Stock Show Intern. I worked out there as a media intern cover all the livestock shows. So for each show I had to do a press release with the show results, a blog post, take 50 candid pictures. With 50 candid pictures it is more like 100 to 200 and sort through them and get some good ones. Then we also had to tweet, do snapchat and facebook and keep everyone online updated.”
Church said that she and her fellow intern were kept very busy running back forth from the hill to the yard. She continued with what she enjoyed the most.
Church: “My favorite part was definitely the people. Just getting to meet so many people was a great networking opportunity. Meeting other people with the same interests and skills as me. I was able to learn form other people. It was great.”
She says her future career plans definitely include being a part of the livestock industry.
