Northwest Cattle Summary
I'm Matt Rice with the Market Line Report for Monday, Jan 25th. Volatility pressuring the cattle market, but feeders and live still rebounding after the New Year. Here's Greg Sanders with the Cattle Market update with the USDA.Sanders- "Thank you and good morning everyone, here's the Northwest Feeder Cattle Summary for WA, OR, & ID for Friday Jan, 22nd 2016. This week on feeder cattle, we had a little over 2350 head trade. Compared to last Friday, feeder cattle are $1-$8 lower due in part to volatile financial markets this week. Trade remains slower, with moderate with moderate to good demand. Feeder steers, medium large frames, 1 & 2 current FOB price 700 – 750 lbs $1.48 in ID."
Chicago March Wheat ended the week up 1/4, at 475 3/4. March corn ended last week up 3 1/4, at 370. Portland prices for soft white wheat of ordinary protein for Jan were unchanged to up 1/2, ranging from 5-30 to 5-40 1/2. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11 ½ % protein, prices for Jan. were dn 3/4, ranging from 5-55 3/4 to 5-65 3/4. DNS wheat with 14 % protein, prices for Jan. were dn 3 ¼, ranging from 6-02 to 6-22. Feb. Live cattle closed last week up $2.65, at 132.90. Jan. Feeder cattle were up $1.62 1/2 on the day, at 160.30. Jan. class III milk was dn 2 cents, at 13-72.
