The Super Bowl of Livestock Shows
Each January brings two exciting weeks to the livestock world through the National Western Stock Show. It began on Saturday and runs through the 24th. It has something for everyone as National Western Stock Show President and CEO Paul Andrews explainsAndrews: “Well, we consider it the Super Bowl of livestock shows — 42 states will be represented here, 35 countries — truly the top of the top animals are here across the livestock area. At the same time we have 30 rodeos that are second to none. More than ten horse shows and a shopping experience of 900 booth spaces that have western attire and other western products. So really there is something for everyone and that is why the National Western will draw 600,000 people this January.”
I’m betting if you aren’t attending, you certainly know someone who is. Andrews says that about half of those attending are from other parts of the country. He continues with the economic impact of the show
Andrews: “The economic impact of from the 16 days of the National Western Stock Show is nearly $100 million and that goes across the County and City of Denver.”
Another exciting element is the partnership of the National Western Complex, as Andrews says.
Andrews: “The partnerships we have built moving forward are going to be important as we redevelop this entire site over the coming years into a 365-day-a-year agricultural educational experience and we look forward to working with everyone to do that efficiently.”
