Colorado Farm Bureau Educates Public About Ag

National Western Stockshow is upon us. With the opportunity to watching the showing judging, seeing old friends, and watch exciting rodeo, also comes a great avenue to educate the public about Colorado agriculture. Again this year, the Colorado Farm Bureau will be a part of the annual Ag Adventures exhibit during the stockshow. Colorado Farm Bureau Associate Director of Education and Member Services Melissa Ralston shares about their booth Great Grains and More.
Ralston: “We are specifically talking about the grains grown in Colorado. The kids get to put their hands in them, feel them and see them, and see some of the end-products like cereal and canola oil that we can make from these grains. So it is really great opportunity to expose the public to parts of their life that they might not understand because agriculture exists in our state.”
Ralston is still looking for Farm Bureau members to volunteer for shifts during the stockshow.
Ralston: “I’m really in need of volunteers — especially that second week. It is a very rewarding experience and you really do make an impact on the people you talk to. It is amazing to see the lightbulb moments that the kids and adults have and make those connections.”
If you are a Farm Bureau member and are interested in volunteering, contact the Colorado Farm Bureau office.
