Snow Outlook. Got a note from Ron Abramovich, water supply specialist for The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service saying that anybody who likes in the media can join him as he measures the snow at Mores Creek Summit near Idaho City. I called him up. "We will do our first measurement at the snowtel site just before January 1. What are you expecting in terms of snowpack? We are off to a great start with moisture coming in and lots of snow because of cold temperatures so we will see quite a bit more accumulation between now and the end of the month. So it's just what we need to get a good snow pack up their and watch it accumulate this winter. We are desperately in need of snow because it represents stored water. Correct. Many of the reservoirs are low in storage so we are going to need a good snowpack to fill them but also to fill the void that is in the forested lands and springs that are not flowing like they used to. Typically to fill some of those springs you need two or three good wet years in a row but hopefully this is the first good year since 2011.
