Seeking Nominees for the Colorado Leopold Conservation Award Program

Applications are now being accepted for the prestigious Leopold Conservation Award® honoring agricultural landowners in Colorado who demonstrate outstanding stewardship and management of natural resources. CO Cattlemen’s Agricultural Land Trust External Relations Coordinator Maggie Hanna shares why landowners should consider applying if they have been making improvements to their land.
Hanna: “This is really an exciting opportunities for landowners to highlight the work that they do without being asked. All this work is done voluntarily. It is an exciting opportunity to share tips and tricks that have worked well in specific operations. It is one of the highest awards given in the state of Colorado to land stewardship. So I think it is a wonderful opportunity and we’d love to see lots of applications come in for all the work people do around the state.
Given in honor of renowned conservationist Aldo Leopold, the $10,000 award recognizes private landowner achievement in voluntary conservation. Hanna shares where folks can find the application.
Hanna: “You can submit your application by March 8, 2016 to the CO Cattlemen’s Association or the CO Cattlemen’s Ag Land Trust. Application information is available on both of our websites. They are www.ccalt.org and coloradocattle.org.”
Finalists and recipient will be announced by April.
