Millennial Panel Shares Their Candid Views

Millennial Panel Shares Their Candid Views

At the recent Washington Cattlemen's Association Convention, the Washington State Beef Commission hosted a Millennial Mom Panel with 10 young moms which provide attending ranchers with a first-hand dialogue with this demographic and provided insight into this market of consumers.

Washington State Beef Commission Director of Digital Strategies Bridgett Coon says that the message about this demographic wasn't new for this audience necessarily.

Coon: "We've been telling producer-audience at their meetings about the Millennial consumers from the Beef Checkoff research for five years now. It was just wonderful to have the target connect with the producers.

Coon shares more about the panel members' experiences

Coon: "The most amazing thing was while the opinions that were expressed during the panel were alarming for producers — we actually spent more than an hour with that group answering their questions in productive conversation. They wanted to more know and they were really encouraged to see the audience. The ranchers were figments of their imagination before they got in front of them in that big room. They really pleased to see the genuine faces — the women in the audience — that really mattered to them. So we actually had a really great conversation after the panel. We've actually heard from them through Facebook and email since then because they wanted to learn more. So it was really positive."

Some of the concerns surrounded organic versus conventional production and antibiotic use.
