Last Chance To Vote

Last Chance To Vote. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.

Time is running out for you to vote as part of the Apple4Ed program. Spokesperson Adriane Rippberger, it's all for a good cause.

RIPPBERGER: Ultimately it is a program that the U.S. apple industry and supporting brands are kicking off to pledge financial support student causes simply by rewarding people who are snacking on apples this season. Consumers are snacking, they're sending us their photos and in return we are pledging to donate to student causes.

Here in Washington State you can vote for Sherwood Forest Elementary in Federal Way or the Washington Apple Education Foundation in Wenatchee.

RIPPBERGER: People who are snacking and uploading our photos go on to our website , they look through the causes, they choose the cause that they most want to support and they just simply list it along with the hashtag in their Instagram photo. The cause with the most votes at the end of the campaign, November 15th, will be awarded the top tier donation.

You can connect via social media and vote that way according to RippBerger.

RIPPBERGER: The campaign is to encourage people to go out and buy apples and/or our partner products and snap a photo and they upload it to an Instagram account and when they upload it to Instagram they use a special hashtag #Apples4Ed so we can track it. For every photo that has that hashtag attached to it we go ahead and count it as a vote towards a student cause.
