World Heath Organization "Clarifies" Last Week's Report

Early last week the World Health Organization's International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) came out with its biased report that red meat and processed meats caused cancer and were put in the same category of cancer risk as tobacco, asbestos and arsenic. And by the end of the week, the organization backpedaled and said that its report had been misinterpreted.

Hmmm, how about misrepresented and misinformation too? How about them ignoring the many, many scientific research reports that state that red meat is a healthy part of a balanced diet??? IARC's Researcher Dr. Dana Loomis says

Loomis: "Processed meat has been classified carcinogenic as well as other well-known substances including: tobacco smoking, asbestos and even air pollination. But it is important to recognize that those classifications relate to the strength of scientific evidence of carcingenicious, but not the level of risk. So even though they are all in the same category, the level of risk of tobacco smoking say is much larger than the risk of eating red meat — 10 times larger than the risk of eating processed meat."

Another annoying aspect of the initial release of the report is that there was nearly a third of the IARC's 22 experts disagreed on the assessment and they had to settle for majority agreement.

Hopefully most people saw it for what it was, a biased report that didn't have solid science behind it.
