At a recent trade show, the John Deere people put out a product reveal. John Deere spokespersonTim Meister talked about the model 8800 self propelled forage harvester with a 770+ corn head on it. "We have redesigned the 770+ to actually pass the crop inward on the outer drums so that we have three rows converging on the outside coming into the middle on the backside of the header. That significantly reduced the amount of cob and stalk loss that we had in the field which is going to give the customer a better crop quality and more productivity because they are going to have less losses. But in particular they are going to have higher starch content in their corn which should be able to reduce their costs or produce more beef or milk. I guess you have really beefed up the durability of your machine. We have tried to reduce maintenance by over 65% on the machine and that means just the amount of time that someone has to work on it.
